In older adults, tooth loss can affect their ability to chew and thus influence nutritional intake. Tooth loss is associated with clinical and social factors, including oral and systemic disease connections and social determinants of health—such as education, income, and race/ethnicity. This study aims to examine the relationship between systemic and oral health among older adults to understand oral health inequities in older Coloradoans better.

In 2021, Colorado released the third statewide survey of palliative care providers. This survey highlights the trends, challenges, and recommendations to advancing palliative care. Educating public health, providers, policymakers, and the public on the value of palliative care for those facing serious illness is essential to improving care and quality of life for Coloradans.
Creating Outdoor Spaces for Older Adults: Not Just a Walk in the ParkKaren RoofDuring the pandemic, outdoor spaces have shown to be crucial amenities to the mental, social, and physical well-being of populations, although they are often not fully accessible to all populations. To help support safer and accessible outdoors spaces, SHC developed the evidence-based, Outdoor Livability Assessment Tool (O-LAT) for public health professionals to evaluate the extent to which outdoor spaces, from housing properties to parks, promote the health and safety of all ages and abilities.
