Using social media for community engagement and health equity: Lessons from an mHealth research project with American Indian and Alaska Native Youth
Sarah Boland, Nicole Reed, Savannah Smith, Michelle Sarche, Carol Kaufman, Umit Shrestha
Native WYSE CHOICES is a culturally-attuned mobile health intervention designed for urban, Native young women- a culturally diverse, geographically dispersed, and sometimes “hard-to-reach” audience. We have harnessed social media to rebuild trust and connect with our audience. We’ll share lessons we’ve learned and provide hands-on activities to practice both graphic design and content planning. Social media plays a critical role in centering the voices that we, as a field, have left at the margins.
